We began our adventure on our small farm in May 2005 when we bought our 10 acres and decided to take a chance.  My husband and I both grew up in the city and we had no idea what we were going to do but we knew we were willing to try.  We read every book we could and started with some chickens, then goats, and then cows.  Before long we had mini-horses, mini-donkeys, llamas, horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, pigs and sheep.  We had thoughts of doing a petting zoo, Katherine's Place, in memory of our daughter and opening the farm to the public.  We realized that wasn't possible with 3 girls and both of us working full-time.  It was time to readjust!

Life on the farm is a balancing act and we weren't doing very well.  We sold off some animals and then discovered we were going to have another kid, the two-legged variety.  More animals went and then our 1st son came along.  We have narrowed our farm down to the Registered Nigerian Dwarfs, Registered Tennessee Fainting Goats, and Registered Boer Goats.  We have kept a one longhorn heifer and we plan to just purchase steers and finish them for beef.  We also have added a purebred Dexter heifer for milk and some Panda cattle.  We kept the chickens, dogs, cats, rabbits, a horse, a pot-belly pig and some llamas.  So with our 4 children, we are striving to make a go of this farm.

I think we have finally found our way on this farm.  The kids are learning to enjoy the country life and so are we.  The animals can offer so much entertainment, if you only stop to watch.  The work on the farm is never done but when in life is it ever.  I hope you enjoy this website, we are happy you are here to visit.  Contact us anytime and we will be happy to help you in anyway.
